Earlier this year the Guthrie Center City Council approved decreasing the speed limit on Bluff Street.

City Clerk Kris Arrasmith says that the reason that the speed limit was changed was because the city received multiple complaints and requests from residents in the area, and a recommendation to do so had come in from the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office. She adds that it was also the only residential street in town that was not already dropped to 25 miles per hour. Arrasmith mentions that the change went into effect right after the resolution to do so was passed on February 24th and then published shortly thereafter.

Arrasmith explains that the speed limit on Bluff Street had not been reduced before, and that it is now set at 25 mph. She shares that the City Council believes some positives coming from this change is the increased safety for pedestrians and nearby property owners.
