The Perry Public Library is hosting a popular event tomorrow and encourages the community to get rid of any documents or other unwanted paper items.

According to Adult Services Librarian Mindy Farmer, they are inviting people out to their Spring Shred Event tomorrow from 10am-noon. She outlines that people can bring personal documents such as job applications, medical records, legal contracts, advertising, among others to dispose of in a shredder truck. Farmer tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this event is normally held in the fall, but the popularity of it has grown so much for the library to add another one in the spring. She directs people on where to go to get rid of unwanted documents.

“The shredder truck is going to be in the library’s south parking lot and you can get there by car from Railroad Street. This is an opportunity to dispose of outdated personal documents free of charge safely and securely.”

Although Farmer shares the event is free, she welcomes any donations that people would like to make. She names items that shouldn’t be shredded include food, glass, hand tissues, cardboard tubes, hanging folders, electrical items, syringes, and office supplies.
