The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department recently completed a project at one of its parks.

JPRD Director Nathan Kral says Washington Park recently had the playground equipment replaced, due in part to a $35,000 grant from the Greene County Community Foundation. He appreciates the Jefferson Public Works crews for removing the old structure and the installation team from the contractor of the new equipment, Boland Recreation. He talks about needing to replace everything that was there before.

“So everything that’s on the structure, you have your climbing stuff, and you have your, there’s what three or four slides on the new one. So the last few years we’ve kind of decided that we want to try and do an upgrade at each park. This year is Washington Park.”

Kral reminds everyone that last year, they also received a GCCF grant for an upgrade to Head Park, near the water tower.

“We got a new swing set. It’s a six seater swing set for out there. With the housing development going up in that area of town, we thought that was a good time to do something at that park.”

Kral adds that the project at Washington Park was a total of $50,000, with matching funds from their account. He thanks the Greene County Community Foundation for their grant in support of their project.
