Traffic is temporarily disrupted in the downtown square of Jefferson this week.
The Jefferson Water Department Superintendent Kyle DeMoss tells Raccoon Valley Radio a new water line is being installed on North Chestnut Street, near the intersection of East State Street. He says the 1.5 inch water line is being installed for the added capacity that The Public House restaurant requested to have.
Following the initial work to break open the concrete on the west and east sides of North Chestnut Street, DeMoss explains that the city will use the underground boring machine to extend the water line from the city’s water main to hook up with the contractor that is doing the work for The Public House. He adds that if everything goes well, the project should be done in a couple of days, but could take one week or longer. He says the plan is to only limit traffic through the project area to one lane.
