Carter Morton after clearing 6' 11" in the high jump outdoors in 2023

Carter Morton wins a lot of the time, but the University of Northern Iowa track & field standout may not have ever been happier by finishing second, which he did at last week’s Drake Relays in Des Moines. Morton not only scored a personal best 7.882 points, but that mark broke Raven Cepeda’s 2007 school record of 7,838.

Till Steinforth, who finished 15th in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris while competing for Germany easily finished in first place at Drake.

Morton is competing unattached this season, meaning he is not allowed to wear UNI uniforms while competing. Nor can he stay or travel with the team, and he’s on his own for expenses. A Carter Morton Track Fund has been established at Home State Bank, which anyone can contribute to.
