plants

With the spring season in full bloom, the Adel Public Library is jumping into the act with a program.

Programming Specialist Lily Schwarz outlines that the library is bringing in Dallas County Master Gardener Sonya Ferguson to teach individuals the basics of starting a vegetable garden. She mentions the program will specifically focus on soil preparation, planting, maintenance, and harvesting. Schwarz tells Raccoon Valley Radio right now is a good time to learn about planting before the month of May.

“We do have a seed library that is open to anyone to come and browse, and she (Sonya) is one of the Master Gardeners who replenishes that. So, we’re excited to have an event that people can come to and listen to her and hear what she has to say.”

Schwarz welcomes people ages 19 and older to learn a new way to care for the environment. The program is happening inside the community room from 6-7pm tomorrow, with any questions being directed to the Adel Public Library at (515)-993-3512.
