The Bock Family Foundation recently held their spring grant cycle meeting on Thursday to present over two dozen organizations in Dallas County with monetary donations.
According to Executive Director Scott Finneseth, $97,895 was handed out to 31 grant recipients. Of those, the Perry Area Child Development Center received two separate grants for a total of $6,700. PACDC Director Kim Bonjour-Eiteman tells Raccoon Valley Radio that $5,600 will go towards scholarships that the organization always offers families to make it easier for their children to attend. She emphasizes that there is a greater need for these financial scholarships with the impact of last year’s closure of the Tyson Foods Pork Plant.
“Those families are starting to find jobs now, but they’ve taken jobs with less pay, so scholarships are almost more important now than they’ve ever been for families to have the opportunity to still go to work, but they need child care, but they also need to be able to afford it.”
Bonjour-Eiteman shares the remaining $1,100 is allowing the Perry Area Child Development Center to expand the enrollment of infants and purchasing cribs.
