A student from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School is one of nine members representing the Iowa FFA officers.
According to ADM FFA Advisor McKenzie Gettler, senior Kelsey Greenslade was named to the 2025-26 Iowa FFA State Officer Team as the South Central State Vice President during the state convention at Iowa State University in Ames from April 13th and 15th. Greenslade tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she didn’t grow up on traditional farmland, but raised pigs when she was younger as she would show them at different competitions. She says that sparked her interest in joining FFA, and that her parents taught her how crucial farming is to the world.
Greenslade expresses that she’s enjoyed the opportunity to travel to many places as well as meet new people from a variety of backgrounds while being in FFA. She previously served as a district officer for FFA, but elaborates on what it means to represent her high school.
“I have gone to ADM (Schools) my whole life. So representing the school that I’ve always grown up in is a really big part of my life and it’s something that I’ve really enjoyed. Having the chance to be a state officer and lead members at the level that I’m able to, if you really think about it, there’s 20,000 FFA members just in the state of Iowa, and I got selected as one of nine individuals chosen to lead the state this year. So that’s just such a cool opportunity that I know not a lot of people get to have, and I’m super excited to make the most of it, and really have a great year.”
Greenslade reveals that she’ll lead a team of high school students serving as district officers for the south central district, as her responsibilities include directing the work of the area, planning conferences and conventions for members to attend, travel to schools across the state to host leadership workshops, celebrating members’ successes within their chapters, and more.
