With one day down and two days to go, there is still lots of baseball happening this weekend in one of Greene County’s smallest towns.

The 5th Annual Rippey Ruckus kicked off yesterday with a couple of games and today’s schedule is a full slate, with two more happening tomorrow. Kevin Hick with the Rippey Ballpark Commission says their round-robin tournament format features teams from Chicago, Kansas City, St. Michael, Minnesota; and the Rippey Demons. He emphasizes that there is no admission fee for people that want to stop by and take in some baseball, where all of the players are 50 and older.

“The teams have paid an entry fee to be in the tournament and it covers the cost of maintenance of the field and the cost of the umpires. During this tournament, we provide the umpires and so we pay them per game. And so no, we do not charge admission.”

The games for today run from 10am to 5:30pm and tomorrow’s two games are scheduled for 10am and 12:30pm.
