All children from ages two to five are invited to Jefferson for the 18th Annual Toddler Fest.
Youth Services Librarian at the Jefferson Library Bailey Mount explains that Toddler Fest features several different stations where younger children can explore and do lots of hands-on activities, while also learning about early literacy. She talks about the critical factor that makes this event as successful as it has been because of the volunteers, which are about 40-50 people that help every year.
“What’s amazing about this is, it’s all of us getting volunteers from each town. So like (Rippey Library Director) Cara (McCoy) from Rippey is making sure she can get a board member and some of her kids coming. I link up with the Interact Club and see if we can get teenagers for the grocery store. Paton-Churdan gets ahold of their local daycares, like everybody is making sure they’re tapping into whatever community resources they have to just come together and make a really good community day for this age group.”
Toddler Fest takes place from 10am-noon at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will be broadcasting live from the event also from 10am-noon. The free event is co-sponsored by the Greene County Libraries Association and the Greene County Board of Supervisors.
