The Greene County Libraries Association is inviting everyone to check out an Author Talk program in some of the communities in the county.
According to the GCLA, Linda Betsinger McCann has published several books about Iowa’s history and will be presenting different books at some of the county libraries. Organizers say McCann was born and lived her entire life in the Hawkeye state and currently lives in Shell Rock. GCLA says McCann discovered while researching her family’s genealogy that she was related to the founder of Shell Rock. McCann has published 12 books on Iowa’s history by The Iowan Book.
McCann will kick-off the week at the Rippey Library at 11am about the book, “Civilian Conservation Corps.”, followed by a stop at the Marchant Memorial Library in Scranton at 6pm on the subject about prohibition in Iowa. She will then be at the Jefferson VFW Hall on Tuesday at 2pm with the Jefferson Public Library to go over the book, “Rosie the Riveters of Iowa.” She also has stops at Carroll Library at 5:30pm on Tuesday and on Wednesday at the Manning Library at 2pm.
Attendees at every event will be in a drawing for a door prize to win the book that is the topic at each event that McCann is donating to. She will also have copies of all of her books at every program and those are $20 each. The Author Talk programs are free and open to the public.
