The girls’ soccer team from Greene County High School lost in State Center on Thursday at West Marshall vs. Central Iowa United by a 4-1 final. Coach Wes Anderson’s team fell to 0-8 while CIU improved to 3-6.

Coach Anderson reports sophomore Autumn Barrett scored a goal in the 20th minute of play on an assist from senior Randa Linberg. Linberg also had a shot on goal and both sophomore London Harris and senior Emma Shipley combined for three more shots. Goalkeeper Lucy Vander Linden had seven saves. The goal was the third of the season for the Rams.

“Overall, this was a fun matchup and we hope to see Central Iowa United again at the Creston Tournament on May 10. I think it’s likely that with a few tweaks to our approach, we could come out with a different result there.  The girls played much more aggressively today and applied so much of what we’ve been practicing lately. It was great to see Autumn and Randa sttep up and spearhead our attack.”

The Rams have a home date today vs. Webster City at 5:30 p.m. for varsity only play.
