Monday is going to be a special day for the Stuart Public Library.
Librarian Rachel Majerus says that they will be holding the grand opening of their Story Walk at the Stuart Walking Trail around the Stuart City Sports Complex. She mentions that the library is excited to bring this addition to the community, and to make exercising a little more fun for some of the youth. Library Director Lisa Sherman explains that they had the help of the City and Public Works department to install the stands around the walking trail, and that the project was funded by an anonymous benefactor. She shares that there will be 32 pages for each book, with two pages per stand.
Sherman says that on the second stand along the Story Walk, there will be an activity for those reading the book to participate in. She mentions that they haven’t decided how often to change the stories yet, but that they have been discussing when they want to do that. Majerus adds that the grand opening will take place at 3pm on Monday, with the library closed from 2-4:30pm for the event. Sherman also says that the Story Walk program is a trademarked program that was started by the Kellogg-Hubbard Library and Anne Ferguson.
