The Bagley Volunteer Fire Department will be holding one of their annual events Sunday.
Fire Chief Jeremy Cooper says that their Breakfast with Champions Fundraiser will be Sunday morning, where they will be serving pancakes, eggs from Rose Acre Farms, sausage from Dahl’s Meat Locker, coffee, milk and orange juice. He mentions that the breakfast is open to everyone that would like to come in and attend, and that they usually have people from the surrounding counties, along with one or two out of state visitors who stop in to enjoy the meal. Cooper adds that one of the things he enjoys about the event is the conversations and laughter shared by those that attend.
Cooper explains that proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards updating their portable radios to the 700 mega-hertz variety. He adds that unfortunately this is an expensive upgrade, nearly $20,000, but that it is starting to become impossible to find parts to repair the current system. Cooper mentions that they are also actively working to build a new fire station, as they have outgrown their current station, which is landlocked without anywhere to add additional space. There are also equipment upgrades that Cooper says need to be made, as they are beyond due to replace their bunker gear, and need more personal protective equipment. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the meal will be served from 7am to 1pm for a free will donation.
