A school in the Perry community is gearing up for a yearly event that will happen on Saturday.
St. Patrick’s Catholic School, 1302 5th Street, is hosting the 4th Annual Gala and Auction on Saturday in the gymnasium. Principal Kandice Patillo highlights a few new changes, including hosting a “Preview Cocktail Hour” on Friday from 6-7pm that will not only allow guests to grab tickets to the Saturday event, but have a chance to look at the silent auction items earlier than anyone else. She details that the online bidding is open now? on their Facebook page, which will close Friday afternoon prior to the Cocktail Hour.
Patillo explains that the fundraiser will follow on Saturday at the school with doors opening at 5pm and dinner served at 6pm. She lists past items that have been auctioned off including trips to Missouri, Nebraska, and Minnesota; boat rides in Okoboji, yard games, plus a Ride-On Dump Truck. Patillo has one specific thing that she enjoys about the auction.
“One of the things we auction off every year is a ‘Principal for the Day.’ And so that’s always one of my exciting things to see who’s going to get it next, and then we have fun every year with it. This last year, the two families that got the Principal for the Day, they helped announce and kick off our raffle sales, which is brand new this year as well, so that’s always fun. We have great auctioneers, it’s a night where everybody leaves laughing and having fun, and we’ve heard several times this year that people loved the experience and they were ready to buy their tickets. So, we’ve actually had more ticket sales upfront this year than we’ve had in the past.”
Patillo illustrates that the event is geared towards adults that are 18 and older, while the raffle is for people 21 and older She mentions that tickets cost $40, but is good for entrance, a meal, and access to entertainment to see the band Rukkus. Patillo outlines that tickets may be purchased at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Office or the school office.
