The track & field facility in Atlantic was the site of the CAM (Anita) Cougar Relays on Tuesday with the girls and boys squads from Paton-Churdan taking part. The Rockets had a first place performance in the high jump for boys from sophomore Trevon Keely. He cleared the bar at six feet, seven inches, equaling his personal best, and getting a successful clearance at that height for the first time outdoors. Keely also was fourth in the 200 meter dash in 23.09 seconds, and he finished fifth in the 100 in :11.62.
The P-C girls had an eighth place finish in the discus throw from sophomore Alivya Smith with a best toss of 93 feet, three inches.
Keely will jump tomorrow in Des Moines at the Drake Relays. He’s one of just 24 boys statewide to qualify. The high school boys high jump is set to begin Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
