The Greene County Board of Supervisors meet in regular session on Monday.

During reports, Assistant Greene County Attorney Laura Snider said that while the overall crime rate is down across the county, there are a number of cases where instead of a plea agreement and a resolution would come quickly, those cases are being dragged out longer and wanting to go to trial.

Also during reports, it was mentioned that all of the utilities have been extended to the new county jail site. The footings for the building are being set and there is going to be a one month waiting period as the pre-cast concrete walls are being delivered.

County Engineer Wade Weiss reported that a portion of County Road P-46 was closed last week and the contractor is currently crushing the existing road to be used as the base for the new pavement to be installed. He said this process should take about three weeks to complete and then crews will move to County Road E-18 to do the same.

Next, the Board approved another road closure for County Road N-58 for a bridge replacement project in conjunction with Carroll County on A Avenue. Finally, the Board held a discussion with Cassie Fiedler and Region XII Council of Governments about the Paton-Churdan Early Learning Center daycare facility. The Supervisors agreed to move forward as the fiscal agent so that Region XII and PCELC could apply for a $600,000 Community Development Block Grant to help renovate the $1.7 million project with the former Methodist Church that PCELC recently purchased.

Snider recommended that there be a 28E agreement in place and that the project needed to show that the jobs with the daycare facility would either be maintained or increased due to the project, as an extra precaution with the county playing a role with the project as fiscal agent. Region XII agreed to follow through with those requests.
