One person was hurt after two semi-tractor trailers hit each other on Interstate-80 Saturday morning, and both vehicles were total losses after they caught fire.

According to Sergeant Alex Dinkla with the Iowa State Patrol, two semi-tractor trailers were traveling west on I-80, when for some unknown reason the semis crashed into each other around at mile marker 103, near the Dexter area, about 8:30am this past Saturday. The Earlham Fire and Rescue Department reported that the vehicles were fully engulfed in flames when they arrived on scene. The vehicles were deemed total losses.

Dinkla said one of the drivers suffered injuries and was taken to a local hospital. He noted that the westbound lanes on I-80 between mile markers 104 and 100 were closed for four hours. The Dexter Fire Department also assisted at the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
