An Iowa legislator opens up about potentially moving up to represent Iowans on the state level.
Iowa District 14 Senator Sarah Trone-Garriott acknowledges that she is interested in running for the state’s 3rd Congressional District seat in 2026. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that her passion lies with public service. Trone-Garriott reveals that she saw an opportunity to help residents through the state government and believes that she can address important issues. She elaborates more on what ultimately led to this decision.
“I am seeing a need to have people in our federal government who really show up in the community, who listen to what’s going on in folks’ lives and who really stand up and speak out on behalf of what the people of Iowa need. I don’t think I’m seeing that right now from our current representative, and there’s a lot of frustration on the ground about that. We want to make sure that decisions at every level really are benefiting Iowans and keeping Iowans priorities at heart.”
Trone-Garriott stresses that she remains committed to her current obligation as a senator and will do her best to continue fighting for a chance to give Iowans a voice.
