A yearly event hosted by Raccoon Valley Radio was recently held to help generate money for the Perry Chamber’s 4th of July Fireworks Show.

The 18th Annual Radio Pie Auction happened on Wednesday, where members from the Perry Chamber, Auctioneer Tom Burkgren, plus Raccoon Valley Radio’s Shawn Kenney and Shawn McGee participated in giving away nearly two dozen pies with live bidding. Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti outlined that 21 pies sold for an exact amount of $8,000. Raccoon Valley Radio General Manager John McGee was super appreciative to everyone involved.

“It was really neat to see the volunteers that came out here. The chamber had some great volunteers, of course Tom (Burkgren) does an awesome job with the auction side of it, Shawn Kenney Emceeing things, clerking behind with Lynsi (Pasutti) and then Tiffany (Olejniczak) organizing everything behind the scenes, as well as Cherie (Welch) and Emily (Leslie) manning the phones, Jen (McGee) up front manning the phones. It takes a team effort internally to pull it off and it’s neat to see that, but what’s even more exciting is to watch the community come together.”

Pasutti described that there were 14 bakers that made pies this year with the highest one selling for $1,000. She illustrated that combined with the money made with the Big Boom Bracket Battle, the total now sits at $15,431.17 out of the $18,000 goal. Pasutti adds that there will be a few more opportunities to donate to the fireworks drive with events coming up in May and on July 4th.
