With planting season starting up across the state, there is more farm equipment that are on the roadways.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams advises motorists to have patience when encountering slow-moving farm implements on the roadways, and pass when it is legally allowed.
“If you’re going to try to pass, make sure that there’s no field drives in front of them that they might turn into (and) gravel roads. And that you have enough distance or enough space to safely pass in a passing zone.”
Williams points out that with the county still dealing with drought conditions, lots of farm equipment may have their signals covered with dust, which can make it difficult for motorists to know if a farm implement is turning onto another roadway or field drive.
