Greene County senior Isaac Carman has accepted an invitation to the Drake Relays in Des Moines. Carman has thrown the discus 159 feet, two inches, and that ranked him twenty-third among the 24 qualifiers as of the April 17 date for submitting performances. Ram head coach Chad Morton reported the news to Raccoon Valley Radio Friday afternoon with the official list of high school qualifiers for the April 24, 25, 26, spectacle expected this afternoon.

Carman is a familiar name when it comes to discus throwing boys and men involved in coaching the sport. His great uncle, Doug Carman, and Doug’s son, Andy, are the throwing coaches for the Rams. Andy is the Jefferson-based program’s all-time leader in both the discus throw and shot put. He’s a 2010 Jefferson-Scranton graduate.

Carman is scheduled to throw on Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. with the other 23 qualifiers representing schools large and small from all over the state. A recorded interview with Isaac will be broadcast on the Monday, April 21 PM Sports Magazine KG98 Edition at 6 o’clock. The Rams will be hosting the Ram Coed Relays meet on Monday starting at 4:30 p.m. at Linduska Field in Jefferson.
