The Perry Community School Board met in regular session on Monday.

The board discussed the fiscal year 2026 budget as the proposed property tax rate is making an 18.7 percent increase. Board President Linda Andorf commented that this is the first time Perry has seen an increase in the budget since 2017. After short discussion, the board decided to accept the 2025-26 proposed budget as presented.

Items on the agenda that were approved included an agreement between Des Moines Area Community College and Perry High School to offer college courses online and in-person for the 2025-26 year, a University of Northern Iowa Memorandum of Understanding Teacher and Apprentice Registered Apprenticeship program through the end of 2025, a Timberline Billing Service Agreement and Addendum effective July 1st, 2025 to June 30th, 2028, and the board accepted the fiscal year 2024 final audit report as presented.

Additional approved items featured were an early graduation for Randie Sue Seratt, an agreement between the Perry Community School District and Morningside University for student teaching for the 2025-26 school year, setting summer dates from June 9th to August 1st for Perry’s Academic, Cultural, Enrichment Services (PACES) with a $20 increase, making a slight increase between five and 15 dollars for PACES Before and After School Program for the 2025-26 school year, as well as accepting a PACES Program Director job description. 

More items that were approved included setting a public hearing date for Flexible Account Transfer for May 12th, a lawn care services agreement with No Lawn Left Behind, and a letter of agreement between Ms. Courtney Bahney and the Perry Community School District to teach Elementary Level 3 for five years, starting in the 2025-26 school year. The board closed the regular meeting and entered into a closed session to conduct an annual review of Superintendent Clark Wicks.
