A prominent figure in the Perry community reflects on the adjustments he’s had to make being in a new position within law enforcement.
Jim Archer took over as the Perry Police Chief at the beginning of this past November after being the assistant chief for the last two years. However, he has been with the department for 25 years starting out as a patrol officer in 2000, then was promoted to sergeant in 2003 until 2022. Archer tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he attends a lot more meetings as the chief, and is grateful for all the positive reception.
“It’s been going really well. So, the community has been super supportive (and) my officers have been doing a really good job lately. So our officers are out there working hard and getting things done, so we appreciate that.”
Archer points out that a new incoming officer will be graduating from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy at the end of April and then once he joins the force, Archer states the Perry Police Department will be at full capacity in May.
