Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School is in the midst of hosting their spring play, as they have a couple more showcases today and tomorrow.

According to Drama Director Molly Longman, the school is presenting “The Dream,” which puts a fresh and modern reimagining of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” She reveals the premise of the story follows a group of high school students, who are rehearsing for their Shakespearean gala, but then are interrupted by unknown forces that pull them into a fantasy world of romance, mischief, and magical transformation. Senior Mason Willms gives some insight about his character.

“I’m playing Nick Bottom, and then he gets the head of a donkey, but he doesn’t know it, and so high jinx ensues.”

Senior Brody Hunt, who plays the self-centered teenager of Demetrius, tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he loves his dialogue in the show.

“I’ve got some funny lines that I get to say, and some of them are very risque.”

Longman does warn parents/guardians that there will be mild language used since the students are mimicking the original text. She notes that the cost is $4 for students and $6 for adults over the age of 18, which can be purchased at the door. The production is happening in the ADM High School Auditorium, 801 Nile Kinnick Drive South, in Adel tonight at 7pm and tomorrow at 2pm.
