The three high schools in Guthrie County are preparing to send students to the Iowa FFA State Convention starting Sunday.
Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center FFA Advisor Skie Shull shares that they will be taking 31 high school and eight middle school students that will be attending from their Chapter, with 10 of the high schoolers receiving the State FFA Degree. She explains that members will compete in five events while at the convention, and participate in four other events. Shull adds that several members are looking forward to attending the convention because they get to represent the school, see different aspects of FFA around the state, and watch different contests.
Panorama FFA Advisor Steven Hameister mentions that 20 of their Chapter members will be in Ames for the convention, and that they also have three State FFA Degree recipients. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what he’s looking forward to for the students.
“Really just looking forward to them experiencing it, learning from some of the state and national officers, putting on workshops, gaining experience in some of these contests, and then just, you know, being able to go and network with other FFA members from around the state and also with the colleges and careers that will be part of the expo.”
West Central Valley FFA Advisor Molly Dolch says that 12 members of the Chapter will be going to Ames, with four receiving their State FFA Degrees. She adds that members will be participating in eight different events. A list of members from each Chapter and what they are participating in can be found in this story online.
