Since the announcement that Matt Carstens stepped down as the Landus Cooperative CEO, the farmer-owned company recently named its interim CEO.

The Board of Directors tabbed Executive Vice President of Sales Sam Caton to be the interim CEO. According to Landus, Caton has more than two decades of experience in the agricultural industry, having served as business unit director for Northern Region at Simplot, where he managed business integrations and showed exceptional leadership by being a forward-thinking leader in the agriculture sector. Prior to being in sales, Landus Cooperative says Caton owned and operated his family’s farm and cattle ranch of 8,000-acres.

As part of his responsibilities of finding the next CEO, Caton says he wants to hear directly from farmer-owners of what they want to see in their next leader of the cooperative. Caton will also retain the responsibilities of his current title with Landus, as Executive Vice President of Sales. Carstens officially stepped down as CEO on April 4th.
