Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach has applications for interested youth that want to take part in the broiler chicken project for the Adair County Fair.

Youth Coordinator Caroline Savage says that order applications opened on April 1st, and are available at the Extension Office. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio some of the important things to know about filling out the application and picking up the chicks.

“You have a minimum of 10 and a max of 25 birds that you can order per 4-H’er. Those will be ready to pick up around May 8th out there at Nodaway Ag. Payment will be due at the time of pickup, and they are $2.70 a bird this year.”

Savage mentions that this is the same form used in previous years, so for those who have done the project before there shouldn’t be much difference. She adds that the cutoff for order applications this year is April 28th, so there is still plenty of time to get those orders in.
