Residents of Guthrie Center have something to celebrate, as Travel Iowa recently named the town one of the Top 10 Small Towns to Vacation in.
Main Street Guthrie Center Director Lindsay Gilland says that she was extremely excited to see Guthrie Center named in the article posted by Travel Iowa, as she believes it puts the community on the map and promotes what they stand for. She lists a few things locals enjoy, and visitors can do when they visit the seat of Guthrie County.
“We have a lot of things that we can do here in town. There’s shopping, we have pearls and lace. You can stop at Art on State for gifts. We have activities such as Incredi-Bowl to go bowling. We have the ability to just head up the road on Highway 25 and go to Springbrook State Park. And we have awesome restaurants right here in town. We have Cafe on the Hill, Prime Time, and we have the Orchard Family Mexican Restaurant. So we really have quite a few spots that you could spend an entire weekend or even just a day here in town.”
Gilland mentions that since she isn’t a life long resident of the town, but instead a transplant of a few years, she is so thrilled that there really is something for everyone who lives there, or visits. She adds that the community has everything that could be needed by anyone who decides they want to vacation in the area, including places to stay, like the Midway Motel or one of the many AirBnB’s.
