Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation awarded nearly $2 million in its annual grant ceremony Tuesday night.
According to the non-gaming license holder for Wild Rose Casino Jefferson, GGCGC allocated $1,958,000, including over $1 million in competitive grants. Four projects were awarded over $100,000 as part of the competitive grants, with the highest amount going to the Greene County Fair Association and the Greene County Conservation Board in a four year pledge of $125,000. The projects that were highlighted with the Fair Association is a multi-phase process to continue to update the fairgrounds and the Conservation Board is looking to repave a portion of the Raccoon River Valley Trail.
The other projects that GGCGC awarded over $100,000 in competitive grants included a new pumper truck for the Churdan Fire Department for $103,500 and the Sierra Community Theatre received $100,000 to renovate the auditorium.
Grow Greene County receives five percent of the adjusted gross revenue of the casino, with 0.9 percent allocated to the six contiguous counties that each received $51,500 this year. GGCGC added that they received the most applications and total amount requested ever with 25 applications asking over $12,400,000. The full list of grant recipients can be found below.
