A Redfield woman was recently taken into custody following an alleged attack on her children.
According to court documents, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on March 26th when the West Central Valley School Resource Officer requested a welfare check for two kids that live in Redfield who were absent from school after a verbal argument happened the day before with the mother, identified as 28-year-old Malkah Baht Israel Jolliff.
The criminal complaint states that during the investigation, attempts to reach Jolliff had failed, but Jolliff was found during a traffic stop this past Friday. Court documents say she was found with other adults and during a probable cause search because of the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, Jolliff was found in possession of marijuana, which led to Jolliff being arrested on an un-related Guthrie County warrant for disorderly conduct.
The criminal complaint notes that both children went to school last Friday, and a school nurse reported seeing injuries on one of the children. Court documents show that a Dallas County Deputy went to the school to speak with one of the children, where they claimed physical abuse happened after they got in trouble at school on March 25th and the visible injuries corroborated the child’s statements.
An arrest warrant was issued on March 28th and Jolliff was then taken into custody this past Monday for a Class D Felony for child endangerment causing bodily injury, an aggravated misdemeanor for child endangerment, and a serious misdemeanor of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. Jolliff is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
