A musical organization in Iowa is coming to Perry to honor the two individuals who lost their lives from the tragic shooting in 2024.
According to a press release, the Iowa Bandmasters Association are holding a tribute concert titled “A Mere Moment, Bolero in Remembrance” to recognize sixth grader Ahmir Jolliff and longtime Principal Dan Marburger, who passed away from injuries in a shooting that happened at Perry High School on January 4th, 2024. Superintendent Clark Wicks tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this is yet another way to highlight Perry’s strength.
“I think it’s also to honor the resiliency of the Perry community, and what everybody has gone through with that, and try to emphasize resiliency and coming together, but really honoring Dan Marburger and Ahmir Jolliff.”
The concert will be taking place at the Perry Performing Arts Center, 1200 18th Street, this coming Monday. The press release states that the commissioned song debut will be performed by band students from the Perry Middle and High Schools, as well as Central College’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble, where Marburger graduated from in 1989. There will be additional music done by each ensemble as well. Tickets are available for free, but people should reserve their seats and the link can be found by clicking here.
