Coach Chad Black began his head coaching career for the Greene County boys after several years as the assistant coach. His Greene County team put up nine goals from five different players in a 9-1 victory. Junior Franklin Regalado scored four goals and junior Fredy Aguilar added two goals. Junior Teagan Chisholm and sophomores Ethan Carstens and Lincoln Schwander each scored once. Regalado was in his first varsity soccer action for the Rams after not playing last season. Greene County led 5-1 at halftime.
Wes Anderson started his head coaching career with the girls from Greene County and the Rams lost 7-0 to start the season 0-1. The coach told Raccoon Valley Radio the Thunder had 30 shots on goal while the Rams took five shots, four on goal. Lucy Vander Linden had 20 saves with two for Randa Linberg, and one by Natalie Towers. Anderson added, “London Harris and ewcomer Nala Losee had standout games with a shot on goal each and showing the ability to hold possession and build counter attacks frequently. Amelia Gallagher, Autumn Barett, and Faith Jaimes played very well and gave us chances to to score. Randa Linberg is going to be our Ram of the Week as she was dominant in the central defensive midfielder role, and often rotated back into the defensive line to provide additional help. It was a good challenge for our first match as GVC is working to play a possession-centered show buildup style of play and we’ve been working on patience and discipline while defensing. Our girls played well despite the score, and the offensive stats show that we’re on our way up.”
