It’s prom week for the students at West Central Valley High School.
In preparation for festivities at the end of the week, the Stuart Police Department, along with the Iowa State Patrol, will be hosting a safety seminar Monday morning. Stuart Police Sergeant Katie Guisinger says that the ISP will be bringing a vehicle involved in a crash that killed three teenagers. Two of the families whose children were both passengers inside the vehicle and the insurance companies donated the vehicle to the ISP for educational purposes, like this safety seminar.
Guisinger mentions that the event will start at 9am, with introductions and a video titled “Devastation of Speed.” ISP Technical Investigator Eric Payne, who investigated the crash the vehicle came from, as well as the families of the two passengers will also give presentations. At 10:20am, students will be put into two groups, with one group viewing the vehicle and asking Payne questions, while the other group will take part in a question and answer segment with the parents. At 10:40am the two groups will switch, and the seminar will conclude at 11am.
