Greene County’s high school track & field teams are preparing for the start of the outdoor season on March 25 at Simpson College in Indianola. The Rams had indoor meets at UNI and Iowa State last week.

Junior Kaycee Pittman is a two-time State Meet qualifier in the 800 meters for the Greene County girls. She talked about running that distance on smaller indoor tracks vs. the 400 meters tracks outside. “I think it was definitely a little challenging on how to know how to run it because that was the first time running the 800 indoors. Usually I don’t even start to run 800’s this early in the season, so I can’t be upset about my performance since it’s a little unusual for me.” Pittman was clocked in 2:35 at the March 14 Iowa Association of Track Coaches Indoor State Championship in Class 2A in Ames.
