Several students between Perry and Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High Schools have advanced to the All-State Individual Speech Festival.

Perry Speech Coach Mandy Meyers tells Raccoon Valley Radio that seven students performed at the Iowa High School Speech Association Individual Events State competition in Ames this past Saturday with seven of the nine acts receiving Division-I ratings. She explains that sophomore Genesis Gonzalez and senior Andres Zarate are moving onto All-State. Meyers illustrates that Gonzalez is performing in Acting and Zarate is going for Radio News Announcing.

According to ADM Speech Coach Jacque Seidl, 23 students went to state and 18 acts acquired Division-I ratings, with 15 of them being straight ones from the three room judges. She confirms that junior Brenna Seidl and senior Payton Taylor were nominated for All-State. Jacque acknowledges that Brenna made it in Public Address and Taylor will perform in Literary Program.

The IHSSA Individual Events All-State Festival is taking place at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls on March 31st.
