The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

A resident asked about removing a tree that is in the middle of a ditch easement near his property. He thought that due to the extreme winds recently knocking off some bigger limbs, he did not want the tree to become a bigger issue later on. County Engineer Wade Weiss told the individual that the Secondary Roads Department can look into coming to a solution.

The Board then approved a resolution to appoint Katie Fisher as the Deputy County Recorder. It was mentioned that Fisher had completed a six month probationary period and with the stipulation in her contract that if she continued her employment, Fisher would be appointed as the Deputy County Recorder. She will officially have the title starting March 23rd.

The Board also approved a resolution to hire Billie Johnson-Daves as the new part-time County Veteran Services Administrator. She will start on March 31st with a $22.50 hourly wage, with completion of federal training and a background check, will then have an increase to $25 per hour. Jeff Lamoureux, who was on the hiring committee, acknowledged Supervisor Joe Gannon for being part of the hiring process.

Finally, the Board agreed to move forward with a $14,500 repair estimate for the elevator in the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower. County Auditor Billie Jo Hoskins noted that to complete this project, the elevator would be out for four to five weeks. Since the funds for bell tower maintenance were already allotted for the current fiscal year, the Board just gave their permission for Hoskins, who is the keeper of the bell tower, to sign the contract for the repair.
