
There is high potential for severe weather later today.
According to the National Weather Service, all of Dallas and Guthrie Counties and the southern half of Greene County is under a moderate risk for severe weather, with the northern half of Greene County is in an enhanced risk. The National Weather Service has five categories of risk for severe weather potential and the moderate level is four out of five.
National Weather Service meteorologists are anticipating the timing of when the most severe potential is between 4 and 10pm today, with the speed of the storms being 50-60 miles per hour. The hazards that are included with the severe weather forecast include damaging winds of 60-80mph, one to two inch diameter hail and lots of rainfall.
If there is a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning issued in Greene, Dallas and Guthrie Counties, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team will interrupt regular programming to bring everyone live coverage of the storms. The Radio Valley Radio Network is in contact with law enforcement, emergency management coordinators, and others to give local, real-time observations of what the storms are doing in our communities. The live coverage will continue until the storms drop below severe levels or move out of our coverage area.
