The Greene County Historical Society is encouraging everyone to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with an event tomorrow at the Historical Museum in Jefferson.

According to the non-profit organization, there will be an open house at the museum from 9am-noon for fellowship and to hear Janice Harbaugh of Jefferson playing Irish music on the grand piano, along with refreshments and drawings for gift cards. The Historical Society says that according to the Statistical Atlas of the US, about 13.6 percent of the county’s total population is of Irish descent.

Additionally, organizers says that two local authors will be on hand as well tomorrow with Bob Hurley of Jefferson and his published memoir called, “10-31: Crime in Progress,” and the author of “Susan’s Cookbook” by Susan Smith of Jefferson will have hand-painted notecards as well for sale. Tomorrow’s program is free and open to the public.
