With the blizzard that impacted the state of Iowa late Tuesday night and into Wednesday, the three counties in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area each saw more than four inches of snow.

According to the National Weather Service, Guthrie County had about 5.5 inches, Greene County saw about 5.2 inches of snow, while Dallas County recorded 4.7 inches of snow. With the most recent snowfall that came in overnight and today, Meteorologist Marvin Percha highlights that people shouldn’t have to worry about blowing drifts across the road.

“The winds aren’t going to be anywhere as strong, and also the snow is going to be more of a wet, kind of sticky snow, as opposed to the dryer (and) powdery snow we had.”

Percha details that the winds will be between 10-20 miles per hour throughout the rest of today. He states that the western side of the state is dealing with the largest amount of snowfall, exceeding six inches, while central Iowa should receive one to three inches.
