In an incredible comeback fashion, the Dallas Center-Grimes boys basketball team defeated the Ankeny Hawks 76-69 after being down the entire first half by 5. Cason would have a historical outing, scoring 45 points in the win against the Hawks.
In the first, the Mustangs would find themselves in foul trouble early one as they would put the Hawks into the bonus in the first quarter. Dallas Center-Grimes would calm the aggression in the second quarter flipping the script on the Hawks, as Ankeny would put the Mustangs in the bonus. Ankeny would take a five point lead in the first quarter and never look back, but Cason would not slow down, scoring 16 points in the first half helping bringing the Mustangs within 5, 37-32.
In the second half, the Mustangs and Kyle Cason would put up a electrifying performance, taking the lead in the third 53-49. Cason would continue to dominate in the second half, scoring 29 points to total 45 points against the Hawks to help the Mustangs secure a 76-69 victory over the Ankeny Hawks.
The Mustangs now face off against the Valley Tigers at Valley High School for the regional championship on Tuesday night. Coverage will be on KDLS starting around 7:15pm.
