A Fort Dodge woman was recently arrested following an alleged theft incident in Jefferson from last year.
According to court documents, the Jefferson Police Department began the investigation on July 15, 2024 that several items that totaled $11,129 were missing from a business in Jefferson. After the officer reviewed surveillance footage from neighboring businesses, the officer was able to identify the vehicle that was seen at the business that same night and the items that were taken. Court documents show that the officer was able to identify two individuals that were part of the alleged incident through further review of additional surveillance footage of another business.
The criminal complaint states that the officer found out that both individuals had residences in Fort Dodge. The officer then requested help from the Fort Dodge Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol to confirm that the missing items and the vehicle were at those residences. Court documents show that once the officer received confirmation and then confirmed with the business about the items matching what was missing, the officer executed search warrants on July 21st at both properties in the Fort Dodge area.
The affidavit says one of the individuals, 23-year-old Shanntell Tiernan admitted to stealing the items and that she had the other person with her, 49-year-old Danyell Freeman and Freeman admitted to having the stolen property outside of the residence she is living at. Tiernan was arrested on February 25th in Webster County and was transported to the Greene County Jail where she was booked and remains under a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
