A student from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School is participating in the FFA District competition today.
ADM FFA Advisor McKenzie Gettler shares that junior Eliza Schmidt attended the Sub-Districts Leadership Development Events at East Union High School on February 10th, earning gold in the ag radio broadcasting category.
Schmidt tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she grew up raising cattle with her family as her grandparents were farmers. She credits Mrs. Gettler for instilling faith when it comes to public speaking. Schmidt describes that she is much more prepared heading into Districts today.
“I’m feeling a lot more confident than I was for Sub-Districts. I’ve been practicing a lot and really fine tuning my skills. I know that this time, since I know what to expect, I think the outcome will be really great.”
Schmidt illustrates that farming is such a crucial part of the world and is happy to continue following in her family’s footsteps. Her District competition is taking place at Murray High School.
