The AC/GC Chargers girls basketball team has played their final game for the 2024-25 season.

The team met the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Rockets in Class 2A Region 1 finals action, and started strong, putting up the first four points of the game. The Rockets finally got their feet under them after that though, and the first quarter ended with the Chargers trailing 18-8. AC/GC was unable to work the ball inside like they wanted to in the second quarter, taking shots from the perimeter with not many falling, and trailed 38-15 at halftime. The height disadvantage remained an issue throughout the rest of the game, with the Rockets jumping to a 52-26 lead by the end of the 3rd, and the game ended with the 64-30 loss for the Chargers.

The Crafty’s Coffee and Gifts Player of the Game went to the lone senior on the court, as Shay Lemke helped keep the team fighting the entire game. The Dub P Apparel Elite Fit Play of the Game was shared by two plays early on, one where the Charger’s full court press created a turnover to get the team that early 4-0 lead, and the other coming from Camdyn Richter and Stella Largent collecting multiple offensive rebounds to give the team an opportunity for another basket. The Chargers ended the season with a 22-2 record.
