Close to 50 students that attend Perry and Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High Schools are gearing up for the Iowa High School Speech Association District Individual Speech Contest on Saturday.

Perry Speech Coach Mandy Meyers shares that 14 students will compete in districts with six that will be apart of two separate events. She details that senior Ethan Jackson is the only returning All-Stater from last year in poetry. Meyers says that he is planning to perform an original poetry piece this year. 

According to ADM Speech Coach Jacque Seidl, 34 students will be performing in 41 categories, and seven students doing two events. She mentions that these current students have been practicing since November.
