The 100+ People for Perry met for the first time in 2025, with their quarterly meeting on Monday, as they awarded over $6,000 for a new program.
According to Co-Organizer Tom Lipovac, the group met at Hotel Pattee, where they donated $6,200 to go towards the Raccoon River Pet Rescue Cat Population Control project. Raccoon River Pet Rescue Board Member Janelle Repp tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the money will go towards the company’s monthly spay and neuter clinic for cats, helping people that can’t afford to do so on their own, and the donation will also benefit stray cats to cover the spay and neuter expenses, vaccinations, plus the medications they need. Repp feels grateful to the 100+ People of Perry group for offering such a generous donation.
“We were thrilled because normally we’re paying for this out of our own pockets (with) volunteers, the board of directors, (and) donations that we receive. This is how we pay to help spay (and) neuter animals out of our pockets and doing fundraising. So this will go a long way toward helping us achieve that goal of keeping the population down and helping people that don’t have the means to help pay for it.”
Lipovac details that 100+ People for Perry is in its 10th year and has given away $252,200 to 37 local non-profit projects in the community. He shares that the goal of the group is to make four large donations each year to assist businesses in the area. The second quarter meeting is set to happen on May 19th.
