
The Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs girls basketball team are headed to the state tournament after defeating the Carlisle Wildcats 31-30. With this victory, the Mustang claim the Class 4A region 6 championship and punch their ticket to the state tournament.
The Mustangs would battle back this entire contest against the Wildcats, down 7-0 in the first before battling back bringing the score to 7-5 to end the first. The Mustangs would find themselves down at halftime 19-13 but continue to stay in the fight. The second half the Mustangs would begin to fire up as Brauch would hit a big three towards the end of the third to bring the score to 25-24 in favor of the Mustangs. DCG would hang onto this one point lead until the very end, defeating Carlisle to claim the regional championship and punch their ticket to the state tournament defeating the Wildcats 31-30.
The Mustang girls are back in action from the Wells Fargo Arena for the Class 4A quarterfinals on Tuesday, March 4th.
