After being delayed twice due to weather, on Monday afternoon was the Southwest District/Northeast Sub-District FFA Contest at Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center High School.
Advisor Skie Shull says that being able to host Sub-Districts was thrilling, even if it was a super busy day. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that now the members are preparing for the District Contest on Saturday, and how the short turn-around could be hectic.
“Our members, I told them when we rescheduled the first time, because we were scheduled twice, so when we rescheduled the first time, I said, ‘Okay, you need to be a little bit more district ready than what you were. Just prepare as if you were going to qualify, because you will have a shorter amount of time to make it more prepared for that district contest.’ Our district is extremely competitive, and our members are excited to compete in our district against the competitiveness that comes with it, but we just have to be a little bit more prepared with the shorter time span that we have in between the contests.”
AC/GC FFA members competed in nine events at Sub-Districts and advanced all of them to Districts, with every member receiving Gold or Silver Ratings. They will also have members compete in five other events that begin at the district level. Panorama FFA had members compete in five events at Sub-Districts, with the highest achievement being Ella Carico being chosen as the alternate in Ag Broadcasting. A full list of results for members of each chapter can be found in this story online.
