Yesterday was the first official day of high school girls and boys track & field practice for the Greene County Rams. Veteran head coaches Derek Merk for the girls and Chad Morton for the boys both return in those capacities.
Both coaches told Raccoon Valley Radio they expect good numbers of participants with more than 30 girls and possibly more than 40 boys as practice gets underway. One bonus as February turns to March is the weather. Just last week thoughts of practicing track & field outdoors would have been unthinkable, but as soon as snow is off the track, the kids will be on it.
The Rams begin the season indoors with a meet for boys on March 10 and one for girls on March 11 with both inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
