
The Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs had their first playoff game last night playing host to the Fort Dodge Dodgers. The Mustangs, would pick up a 35 point victory defeating the Dodgers 77-42. The Mustangs now advance to the second round of the playoffs, and face off against the Ankeny Hawks on Friday at Ankeny High School. The winner advances to the regional championship, hoping to reach the state tournament.
Mateo Dzolota would lead the Mustangs in points against the Dodgers ending the night with 18 points. Dzolota would help the Mustangs begin to walk away with the lead in the first half, scoring 15 in the first half helping the Mustangs pick up a 37-14 lead. The Mustangs would bring in players from the bench in the second half, as Cameron Allen would hit two big threes in the second half alongside Brody Logan who also had a big three in the second half as well. The incredible performance by Dzolota in the first half, alongside the dedication and passion from the bench in the second, would help push the Mustangs pasted the Dodgers in the first round of the playoffs, picking up a 77-42 victory.
The Mustang boys are back in action on Friday night at Ankeny High School for play off action against the Hawks. Coverage will be on KDLS beginning at 6:45pm.
